MONEY TALKS IN NPP: Bawumia and Ken Splash GH¢3m and GH¢1m to Secure Party’s Future

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is bracing itself for a fierce showdown as potential flagbearer candidates, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Ken Agyapong, pour in hefty financial support to bolster their bid for the top spot in the 2028 elections.

In a bid to outshine each other, the two heavyweights recently flexed their financial muscles by making substantial donations to the party. Dr Bawumia, the former Vice President, reportedly presented a whopping GH¢3 million as welfare support for the party’s first quarter of 2025. This generous contribution follows his earlier donations totaling GH¢3 million since January.

Similarly, Ken Agyapong, a former Member of Parliament for Assin Central constituency, chipped in with a GH¢1 million donation to settle outstanding debts owed to party workers. Speaking at the NPP headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, Ken expressed concern over the party’s financial struggles and extended his helping hand to ensure smooth administration.

The rivalry between the two potential flagbearers has intensified as they gear up for the presidential primaries in 2027. With their eyes set on leading the party back to power after a recent defeat, supporters of Dr Bawumia and Ken have been engaged in a war of words in the media.

As the battle for leadership unfolds within the NPP, both contenders are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to secure victory and steer the party towards a victorious comeback in the upcoming elections.
