The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has elevated 30 police officers due to their outstanding performance in operations that resulted in the recovery of significant amounts of ammunition and the dismantling of a robbery group in the Ashanti Region.
The promotions were made public on January 5, 2026, after successful operations at the Kantanso Asankare Police Barrier—where officers seized 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition—and along the Antoakrom–Manso Nkwanta route, where a planned robbery was thwarted during the Christmas season.
As stated by the Ghana Police Service, the officers showed professionalism, alertness, and a strong commitment to their duties.
During the Kantanso Asankare operation, police found hidden containers with ammunition in a bus, along with bulletproof plates and other suspicious items concealed under the driver’s seat.

Additionally, 20 intelligence officers from the Ashanti and Ashanti South Regional Police Commands were promoted for their contributions to intelligence-led operations that led to the recovery of firearms, the disruption of armed robbery incidents, and the prevention of attacks on commuters.
The IGP and the Police Management Board praised the officers for their bravery and commitment, encouraging all personnel to maintain high standards of professionalism and assuring that hard work and dedication will continue to be acknowledged and rewarded.
