The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Chiana-Paga constituency, in the Upper East Region, on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been summoned before the party.
Nikyema Billa Alamzy has been written to meet the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) today, Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at the party’s headquarters at Adabraka-Accra, at 2:00 p.m.
The directive follows his recent outburst during a television programme, questioning the basis for the national chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia’s nationwide ‘thank you’ tour.
According to the first time MP, he and his constituents do not see the need for the gesture because even though they voted massively for the NDC, and their party is in power, they have not benefitted from the national cake.
He criticized the unfair sharing of the national cake, calling on the party to rather come and listen to their concerns than coming to thank them.
Speaking on GH One TV programme days ago, Alamzy blasted the government for failing to give them appointment and also extending development to their area.
“Our party cannot be in power and we will still be suffering. In my constituency what are they coming there to thank us for? You’ve not given us appointment, youth employment is zero. What are you coming to thank us for? Come and let’s talk and know that this is what we need”, he boldly said in a video that was making the rounds on the internet.
But the NDC leadership see the action of the MP as distasteful swiftly ordering him to appear before them for clarification and further explanation.
The statement issued on Monday, September 29, said “The attention of the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) has been drawn to a widely circulated video recording from the studios of GH One TV, in which you were heard questioning the rational for any “thank you tour” by the leadership of the Party in your constituency, as well as making other remarks which did not sit well with the leadership of the Party.
In view of the concerns raised by your comments in the video you are hereby invited to appear before the Committee to provide clarification and further explanation”.
The letter asked that, the parliamentarian appears before the Committee accompanied by the Regional Chairman.
