President John Mahama has reiterated his government’s dedication to inclusive education, highlighting that no Ghanaian should be denied the chance to learn or have opportunities due to disability.
At the launch of the Free Tertiary Education for Persons with Disabilities initiative, the President stressed the urgent need to eliminate social and economic barriers that restrict the potential of individuals with disabilities throughout the nation.
He pointed out that excluding people from education and jobs because of their disability is not just a personal misfortune but a loss for the entire country.
“Many still encounter obstacles of poverty, stigma, and lack of access to education and job opportunities. These are not merely personal issues; they signify a national setback,” President Mahama remarked.
He underscored that inclusion is vital for Ghana’s social and economic advancement, stating that empowering individuals with disabilities would unleash untapped potential and foster national growth.
“When we exclude, we squander talent, but when we include and empower, we enhance national progress. Our shared responsibility, therefore, is to make sure that no Ghanaian is denied the opportunity to learn, work, and contribute because of disability,” he concluded.
