Member of Parliament (MP) for the Nhyiaeso constituency Stephen Amoah, has admitted that he knows Abigail Salami Aboagye, the widow of Samuel Aboagye, one of the eight victims of the August 6 helicopter crash.
But he insists that he has not been in touch with her for about seven (7) years now, denying allegation that he fathered the couple’s three-year old daughter, threatening legal battle with a media personality.
“The issue is, if I say I don’t know the lady I will be a liar but it’s been about 7 years I have not seen her. That lady is not somebody that will double date the way I know her but that is between her and the family if there is someone involved but when it comes to me Nana Yaw Boadi Amoah, as I speak my soul is in God’s hands I am saying that the lady it been 7 years I have not seen her”, he said in an interview on Okay FM.
His denial comes amidst rumours that he had an amorous relationship with Abigail and that even before his sudden death, Aboagye suspected a paternity fraud and was getting ready to run a DNA test.
According to media reports, Abigail on two occasions refused to hand over the child for the test. The family of Aboagye being alarmed by the fierce resistance has hauled her before the Obuasi district court resulting in the leakage of the issue in the media.
Reports, including accounts from the chief of Adansi Kwapia and elder brother of the deceased, Nana Kwabena Gyamera Oyiakwan claim that it is possible their in-law still has something to do with the MP.
Conflicting accounts say even though she was married with a child, Abigail still kept her relationship with the MP popularly known as Sticka.
A family member claimed the couple even fought over the same extra marital issue, following which she travelled to the United States (US) to further her education, before the last general election, which Aboagye contested as Parliamentary Candidate for the Obuasi East constituency.
But speaking to the allegation, Sticka said he does not know the family of Aboagye neither the former Deputy Director-General (D-G) of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).
“I have no issues with anyone in the family, I don’t know any of them, not even the young man (Samuel Aboagye)…I knew the lady seven years ago, but I had not seen her for the past seven years, till recently, when I was invited to her husband’s funeral, which I attended. I don’t know her husband anywhere. For over seven years, the only time I saw her was at the funeral, where I asked how she was doing”, he said.
Stressing on the point that he has not been in touch in a long while, he said even at the funeral of Aboagye, he even mistook Abigail for her sister and refused her a hug.
“Do you know that when I went to the funeral, her sister, who looked like her, tried to hug me? But thinking it was her, Abigail Aboague, I rejected the hug and told her that widows are not supposed to be doing this. And the sister said that, ‘Honourable, you are mistaking me for AB. I’m not AB ooo”. This is now serious; it is”, he said.
Though not a perfect human being, the outspoken politician said there is no way he will father a child with another man’s wife. “Do I look like someone who will father a child with someone’s? Why, am I crazy?”, he added.
Meanwhile, the MP has threatened to sue radio presenter, Blakk Rasta for being bold and mentioning him as the person rumoured to have fathered the child.
“I do not want to mind anyone, I am focused. Going to court is now my priority. Kwame, you know the way I am, I can go at all length it is because of God. If I have not come after you and you attack me first, you need to be careful so if study me I am jovial, but I don’t like making friends. But if I decide to respond to you, I will not joke, I am a different being all together. I am ready for anything. A grown man like you; you come public to say all this to tarnish my reputation. My own reputation how can you do that. I am still looking for a very good lawyer because this morning what I have got is enough to go to court. I was lurking around to see if I can pounce on someone”, he said.
