as Abronye caught in smear and flush campaign

The fact-checking desk of The New Republic, has uncovered the truth behind widespread claims that the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) confiscated about nine luxurious cars belonging to Pastor Duncan Williams.
According to insiders from EOCO, no such action has been taken, and all of Duncan Williams’ vehicles remain safe and intact in his personal garage.
The rumors appear to have originated from the NPP Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, during an appearance on his Ohia TV.
Abronye alleged that EOCO had seized nine luxury cars from a pastor’s residence. Although he did not explicitly name the pastor, viewers and social media users speculated that he was referring to Duncan Williams based on hints he made during the broadcast.
The story quickly gained traction online, with YouTubers and bloggers claiming that President Mahama allegedly ignored Duncan Williams’ calls when EOCO reportedly stormed his home to seize the vehicles.
However, EOCO insiders have categorically denied these claims, describing them as false, lacking merit, and constituting both misinformation and disinformation. The office urged the public to treat such reports with the contempt they deserve.
Further investigations by The New Republic suggest that the story may have been deliberately circulated to manipulate public opinion and distract Ghanaians from positive national developments, such as the economic gains outlined in the budget statement by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
The New Republic source at EOCO mentioned that all of Duncan Williams’ luxury vehicles remain secure in his garage and are not in the custody of EOCO.
The office continues to perform its duties transparently, and citizens are advised to verify news before accepting claims that could mislead public perception.
