Beginning tomorrow Wednesday, March 18, President John Dramani Mahama, will embark on a nationwide tour designed purposely to inspect on-going government projects and stages in which they are in.
The exercise, dubbed the “Resetting Ghana Tour,” aims to bring the government closer to citizens, engage grassroots communities, and provide updates on national policies and development initiatives.
It will commence in the Bono Region, with participation from regional ministers, local government officials, and other key stakeholders before proceeding to the next region.
Minister for Government Communications and spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu disclosed this when vice president, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, paid a working visit to the ministry.
Her visit forms part of her initiative to visit state institutions to familiarize herself with their work and learn about their challenges and how best to tackle them.
According to Kwakye Ofosu, the tour will provide a hands-on opportunity to evaluate project sites across the country. The motive, he explained is to get closer to the people and learn for himself how things are going in the respective regions.
He will be accomapnied by government officials including ministers, regional officials, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
“The President believes it is not enough for ministers to brief the nation from the presidency. He is stepping out to lead the ‘Resetting the Ghana Project’, starting from the Bono Region tomorrow, all things being equal.
“This is a nationwide exercise where he will be joined by several ministers, regional officials, district chief executives, and other local leaders to tour project sites, engage with opinion leaders, chiefs, and influential community stakeholders,” he said.
