Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey has commended the government for what she described as significant development strides across the region, saying the ongoing projects are steadily transforming communities and improving the livelihoods of residents.
According to the Minister, investments in roads, education, healthcare, water systems, and market infrastructure were beginning to yield positive results, while boosting economic activities and enhancing access to essential social services.
Speaking during the Government’s ‘Resetting Ghana Tour’ Citizen Engagement forum in Koforidua, the Minister noted that the government remained committed to ensuring balanced development in both urban and rural communities.
She said several road rehabilitation and construction projects were improving transportation networks, easing movement of goods and services, and opening up farming communities for increased commercial activities.
“The Eastern Region is witnessing major transformation through these strategic interventions. Communities that were previously challenged by poor roads and limited social infrastructure are now seeing real improvements,” she stated.
The Minister added that ongoing investments in the health and education sectors were also helping to improve the quality of life for residents, particularly women and children.
She cited the construction and upgrading of schools, health facilities, and water projects as clear evidence of government’s commitment to inclusive development.
The Regional Minister further noted that the implementation of various social intervention programmes and youth employment initiatives was helping to reduce unemployment and stimulate local economic growth.
She urged contractors handling government projects to ensure timely completion and maintain high standards of work to guarantee value for money.
The Minister also appealed to residents to support and protect public infrastructure in their respective communities to ensure long-term benefits.
Some residents who spoke during the engagement expressed appreciation to the government for the projects, saying the interventions were already making a difference in their daily lives.
They, however, appealed for more investments in roads, drainage systems, and job creation programmes to accelerate development across the region.
The Eastern Region continues to benefit from several government flagship programmes aimed at improving infrastructure, promoting economic growth, and enhancing living conditions for citizens.
