A teacher at Bole Senior High School (SHS) is currently the subject of a nationwide manhunt after fleeing authorities when a viral video allegedly showed him engaging in sexual misconduct with a student inside a school laboratory.
The scandal erupted in mid-June 2026 when the disturbing footage began circulating on social media. The Ghana Education Service (GES) acted swiftly, interdicting the teacher and launching a formal investigation. However, before authorities could apprehend him, the suspect reportedly fled toward border towns to evade arrest. The case has since been handed over to the Ghana Police Service.
By July 1, 2026, the GES escalated its administrative actions by officially freezing the interdicted teacher’s salary. The incident has drawn high-level political attention, with Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu publicly condemning the act as “unacceptable and shameful.” Iddrisu has urged the Police Service to expedite the suspect’s arrest and prosecution.
The public outcry has been fierce. Child rights advocates and parent-teacher associations have labelled the incident a profound “betrayal of trust.” They are demanding the ultimate professional penalties: permanent dismissal, revocation of his teaching license by the National Teaching Council, and permanent delisting from the GES payroll.
Furthermore, the Bole SHS scandal occurring alongside recent similar incidents at Ejisuman SHS has sparked a broader demand for systemic change. Stakeholders are intensifying calls for the rigid enforcement of the GES Sexual Harassment Guidelines and stronger, more proactive student protection measures across all Ghanaian schools.
For real-time updates on the police investigation and official GES statements, the public is advised to follow local reporting via Citi Newsroom or official GES portals.

Stakeholders are now intensifying demands for the strict, nationwide implementation of GES Sexual Harassment Guidelines to ensure stronger student protection measures across Ghanaian schools.
