NPP In Trouble As Social Media Turns Red

In the wake of a crucial election cycle, the influence of social media has surged to reshape Ghana’s political landscape, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
An exclusive report by Mussa Dankwah, the dynamic Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, reveals that the NPP is facing a severe setback among the nation’s educated elite who dominate the online sphere.
Dankwah’s groundbreaking analysis highlights a troubling trend: the NPP is swiftly losing ground to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the battle for social media supremacy.
“Social media is a potent weapon in modern politics, yet the NPP seems to be losing its grip on the educated voters crucial to its success. It’s a significant shift we cannot ignore,” remarked Dankwah.
Recent polls from April paint a stark picture, with 42% of voters now throwing their support behind the NDC, leaving the NPP trailing at a mere 32%. This sharp decline, from 36% to 32% for the NPP, signifies a troubling erosion of support previously held by the party.
Across social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, Twitter (now X), and Instagram, the NDC boasts a clear lead over its rival. The NPP’s waning influence on these platforms is a cause for concern, with significant percentages of users now rallying behind the NDC.
Dankwah’s in-depth analysis explores the intricate web of political affiliations and educational backgrounds among social media users, revealing a widening crevice between the NDC and the NPP.
The data speaks volumes: on platforms like Facebook and Twitter, users with tertiary-level education overwhelmingly favor the NDC, underscoring a seismic shift in party loyalty on social media.
As the battle for online dominance rages on, the NPP finds itself at a critical crossroads, desperately seeking to regain lost ground in the virtual arena.
