Ablakwa Pokes Fun at Ntim Fordjour’s Allegations

Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has cheekily joined the chorus of jests aimed at Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament.

Ablakwa, a Member of Parliament for North Tongu, revealed that despite maintaining his first name, he continues to receive amusing variations of his last name in notifications. From Tulaku Ablakwa to Temu Ablakwa and even Wannabe Ablakwa, he humorously questioned if he was missing out on something.

Taking to social media on Friday, April 4, the busy minister quipped, “Folks, what at all is happening? I haven’t changed my first name but I keep seeing Tulaku Ablakwa, Temu Ablakwa, Wannabe Ablakwa, Low-Budget Ablakwa—am I missing something?”

Ntim Fordjour had previously stirred controversy with sensational claims about mysterious aircraft landings in Ghana, sparking a swift response from President Mahama and a call for thorough investigations.

The embattled lawmaker faced criticism for retracting his statement and deflecting the president’s directive, instead opting to summon security agencies for a committee meeting. The move garnered public backlash and calls for him to cooperate with the investigation.

Political commentators weighed in, with NDC member Hamza S. Suhuyini noting Ntim Fordjour’s and his colleagues’ attempts to emulate Ablakwa’s tactics in opposition to gain recognition. Suhuyini emphasized the need for diligence and factual accuracy in pursuing political relevance.

In response to the escalating drama, Majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor advised Ntim Fordjour to learn from Ablakwa’s strategic approach if he wishes to make a similar impact.

Energy expert Kwame Jantuah echoed calls for a thorough investigation, warning that spreading misinformation could result in legal consequences for the MP.
