Some social media users have not taken it lightly with Aglow International for making Ghana’s intermittent power challenges also known as dumsor, one of their prayer topics.
The group, on Saturday May 17, during their monthly intercessory prayer meeting proved for Ghana and the endless electricity challenges spanning from the 1990s.
Led by their President and former Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) president Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie, women group prayed for the government to find lasting solution to the energy situation.
They prayed so that the Ministers for Finance and Energy Dr Ato Forson and John Jinapor, will find the financial supports for the sector.
Equally, they asked that God intervenes so that Independent Power Producers (IPPs), some of who are threatening a shutdown of their plants rescind their decision and give more time for government to raise the needed funds.
Clad in Ghana’s national colors—red gold and green, the women with one accord prayed hoping God will hear them. They also touched on plans by government to privatize certain aspect of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
“Let us continue to pray so that our father will give the finance minister, the energy minister and all stakeholders, greater wisdom and very great insight as well as measureless breath of understanding to solve these problems in order to forestall dumsor which will erode any gains made. IPPs that want to withdraw God should touch their hearts to give us more time to pay them.
Beloved this topic you must be serious because when we go into dumsor it will affect a lot of things”, she said. Then she continued “The next topic for the energy sector is the way forward for ECG that God will be gracious to Ghana and show clearly out leaders the specific areas of ECG that ought to be privatized. Let there be a consensus on the Labour front to avoid strikes and other forms of agitations”, Afenyi-Dadzie said.
But some Ghanaians have taken exception to their prayer topic because in their opinion they are simply being diabolical, political and mischievous. Critics say what they are scheming at is to paint the John Mahama’s government which enjoining massive goodwill, black.
They wondered in the last eight years when the erratic power was rampant and the sector Minister, Matthew Opoku Prempeh directed Ghanaians to issue their own timetable, Aglow did not embark on this agenda but all of a sudden, they have found their voices to pray about it.
“Busy body!!!Instead of her to pray for her daughter to cast the spirit of lesbobo out of her, she’s rather busy with her political gyimigyimi prayers. Mother of lesbobo, this time is not 2016 ooo, we shall face you and rebuke you”, one person told Afenyi-Dadzie.
Another said “NDC is in power, and they’ve started fooling again.”
“This one dierr we will touch the foolish and self-acclaimed anointed woman. She should fix her home before fixing the country” another peeved person added.
Some others asked that government stops them from using the Black Star Square also known as Independence Square as their event ground since their aim is to make the government unpopular. Others threw direct jabs at their president, for doing the bidding of her political masters.
“So the group called Aglow for Women nu have they bought the Independence Square? Or they always rent it? Whoever is in-charge of that facility should wake up”.
Like I asked yesterday, is the Independence Square part of state properties? If yes why should it be rented out to a group to pray against the nation”, the individual said.
