The paramount chief of the Asante Akyem Agogo Traditional Area, Nana Kwame Akuoku Sarpong and father of TV3’s AJ Akuoku Sarpong, has passed on to glory at the age of 88.
The unfortunate incident was made public and officially yesterday, after the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was informed at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. He was a one time Presidential Advisor on Chietaincy Affairs.
The solemn delegation, led by the Agogomanhemaa, respectfully delivered the unpleasant news to the king, marking the end of an era in Agogo and Asanteman in general.
The revered Agogomanhene was enstooled at the age of 38 years and occupied it with wisdom, intellect and service to his people.

It is unclear when the death occurred because as recent as yesterday, Thursday, March 26, AJ was on television, hosting a segment of Season 4 of the PMxtra show.
The Thursday show, which saw housemates representing the 16 regions, saw the radio and television hostess, dressed in a traditional Akan queen mother representing the people Asante Akyem Agogo.

Sharing photographs of her family involving herself, mother and late father, AJ captioned the images “Always and forever daddy’s little girl”. Several followers have followed with messages of condolences to the broadcaster.
