Top officials of the Ghana Armed Forces have been seen at the emergency ward of 37 Military Hospital following the tragic deaths of six prospective recruits and several injuries during a stampede at El-Wak Stadium.
Deputy Defense Minister Brogya Genfi, along with senior military officers, visited the hospital to get first-hand information on the situation and ensure that the response is handled professionally.
The Ghana Armed Forces confirmed that six people died and several others were injured.
According to their statement, the incident occurred around 6:20 a.m. when a sudden surge of applicants bypassed security protocols and forced their way through the gates before the scheduled screening.
The injured are receiving treatment at 37 Military Hospital, where medical teams are working to stabilise them. The Armed Forces extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a full and speedy recovery.
Acting Director General of Public Relations, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, assured the public that investigations are ongoing and updates will be provided in due course.
