Two persons accused of stealing the body of an old man from the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital’s mortuary have been granted bail. They were granted bail in the sum of 30,000 Ghana cedis with two sureties each by the Tarkwa circuit court. The accused persons are John Asante, 37, a mortuary attendant at the Tarkwa municipal hospital and Seth Owusu, 48, fridge mechanic at Atonsu-Bokro, a suburb of Kumasi. A fifth suspect has been arrested in a 7-member gang-rape scandal that rocked Bantama in the Ashanti region in December last year. Seven male teenagers were caught on a widely circulated video sexually assaulting a girl. The five suspects arrested by the police are currently facing trial at a juvenile court in Kumasi. A former Director General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, William Ampem-Darko has attacked the National Media Commission (NMC), calling it a “retrogressive” institution.
