A former deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has led the leadership of the Christian Council of Ghana, to the residence of the 2028 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The visit follows the successful election of the former vice president as flagbearer, on January 31, after a fierce contest.
Not much of their meeting was put in the public domain but the 2024 flagbearer, who shared a brief of their engagement on his socials said the meeting was for the Council to share their goodwill to him after becoming second time flagbearer of the party in a roll.

As the leader of the opposition group, Dr Bawumia expressed his appreciation to the delegation and thanked them for their prayers and kind words. He pledged continued with collaborations with them.
“I had the privilege of welcoming a delegation from the Christian Council of Ghana, led by Rev. Enoch Nii Narh Thompson, who graciously called to share their goodwill following my election as the NPP’s 2028 presidential candidate/
I am truly thankful for their prayers and kind words, and I look forward to continued collaborations in service to Ghana”.

Koku Anyidoho, was expelled from the NDC in 2021 following what the party described as years of ‘antiparty misconduct. But the former director of communication at the presidency under the late President, Prof Atta Mills, was appointed the Communications Advisor to the Council in January 2026.

He was recently seen at the national thanksgiving service at the University for Professional Studies (UPS-A) by the NPP after it presidential primary that saw Dr Bawumia emerge winner.
