“Football is not mathematics” – Hearts of Oak Coach Aboubakar Ouattara after Gold Stars draw

Accra Hearts of Oak head coach, Abubakar Ouattara, has downplayed the significance of calculations in football, insisting that the game is unpredictable.

His remarks came after his side secured a hard-fought point in their Matchday 25 fixture against Bibiani Gold Stars in the Ghana Premier League.

The 1-1 draw in Bibiani moved Hearts of Oak to 4th place on the league table with 37 points after 23 games in the 2024/25 season.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Coach Ouattara expressed contentment with the result, emphasizing that football is not an exact science.

Football is not mathematics like one plus one is equal to something. At the end of the game, we have one point, the home team also have one point, so we take it

I can’t say it’s fair or not, because I’m not in a good place to be talking about some phases of the game.

We will try our best to work on it, but in all a point is not bad.

With 23 games played so far this season, Accra Hearts of Oak has recorded 10 wins, 7 draws, and 6 losses; translating to a 43% win rate.

The Phobians will now turn their attention to their next league fixture against Nations FC, as they aim to build momentum and secure a strong finish in the Ghana Premier League campaign.
