Ghana took a significant stride towards reshaping its leadership with a dynamic Executive Leadership Programme (ELP) held in Ada, Eastern Region, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Themed “Re-imagining Leadership in a ‘Reset’ Ghana,” the program gathered top government officials, ministers, advisors, and key stakeholders to explore new dimensions of leadership in driving transformational change across the nation.
In a rousing speech, President John Dramani Mahama emphasized the need for Ghana to lead and think differently in order to make real progress, stating, “We must lead differently, think differently, and act differently, as the true measure of our success is the lives we touch and the legacy we leave behind.”
Renowned former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan also weighed in, stressing the importance of focused and consistent leadership for advancing Ghana and Africa, particularly in enhancing the education system as a foundation for meaningful change.
The interactive program featured sessions focusing on navigating a world of accelerated change, leading with empathy and collaboration, and aligning leadership approaches with Ghana’s evolving priorities and the aspirations of its citizens.
UNDP’s Regional Director for Africa, Ahunna Eziakonwa, lauded the collaborative effort as a catalyst for equipping leaders with fresh perspectives and actionable strategies to steer Ghana towards inclusive and sustainable development. The program is part of a broader initiative to foster values-driven, future-focused governance that delivers opportunity and inclusive development for all.
As Ghana embraces a new era of leadership, the partnership between UNDP and the Government continues to drive momentum towards long-term institutional transformation, ensuring a brighter future for the nation as a model of democratic governance in the region.
