Government through the Ministry of Health is set to distribute a good number of medical equipment to health facilities across the country.
The pieces of medical equipment include x-ray machines, vital sign monitors, temperature, glucometers, baby incubators, radiant warmers and oxgen concentrators.

The rest are patient monitors, infusion devices, laboratory analyzers, delivery beds, hospital beds, ultra sound.
The distribution will commence next week and it is expected to play a critical role in the roll out of government’s Free Primary Healthcare programme.

Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu disclosed this after an inspection of the equipment on Good Friday, April 3 with the Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
“I spent the morning of Good Friday in the company of the Minister for Health, Hon Kwabena Mintah Akandoh to inspect 24,534 pieces of medical equipment to be distributed from next week to health facilities across the country to facilitate the role out of the Free Primary Healthcare programme”, he said in a post.

Meanwhile, the Minister who is also the spokesperson to the President announced that his boss, John Dramani Mahama, will this month launch the much awaited Free Primary Healthcare programme.
The launch, he noted, will be undertaken on April 15. The programme is a key campaign promise of the president and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him,“The Programme is designed to ensure universal healthcare for Ghanaians including 35% of the population who are not on the National Health Insurance Scheme”.
