Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has described his team’s 1-0 defeat to Hearts of Oak as a “very painful” loss.
Raphael Amponsah’s stunning long-range shot proved to be the decisive factor, giving Hearts the win at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The defeat marked Medeama’s second consecutive league loss against Hearts this season.
Speaking after the game, Tanko expressed his disappointment.
“I think is a very painful defeat, looking at how the game went,” he said.
“We conceded a goal that we normally don’t concede. After the goal, we came back very strongly, we had all the chances.
“I think that is the only chance they had in the first half, is not even a chance.
“A long shot and they score, but in terms of performance, I think they did very well, and definitely we are not happy about the results,” he added.
The loss drops Medeama to seventh place in the league table, two points shy of the top four.
With three defeats in five games, Tanko will be keen to regroup and push for a top-four finish.
