Senior statesman, Kojo Acquah Yankah has praised the Minister for Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, for handling his office with distinction.
The onetime Minister under late President Jerry John Rawlings, is impressed with the way and manner Dr Forson has conducted himself and office. He is particularly mesmerized how he presented the budget statement recently.
The Ejumako Enyan Essiam constituency Member of Parliament (MP) in the Central Region, last Thursday November 13, presented the 2026 budget statement. It was his main budget reading after he did a similar exercise in March following the National Democratic Congress (NDC) taking political office on January 7.
Even though the Minister does not work alone, in the view of the former MP for Agona East, he deserves commendation regardless. Having seen a handful of finance ministers in the past, he believes Dr Forson has distinguished himself well.
“One does not need a debate to state that watching him read the Government budget statement, (and l have seen dozens of them since Independence) he was humble, confident, inspiring, and assuring”, the founder of African University College of Communications (AUCC) and Pan African Heritage Museum said in a Facebook post.
Reading the budget on the floor of Parliament, the 80-year old observed the tact, composure the minister delivered the figures, the facts, statistics and his body language, giving credence to government’s “performance over the past 10 months. Praise where praise is due”.
Dr Forson, aside being an ex-deputy Minister of Finance in the past during President John Dramani Mahama’s first term, has been praised for his performance on the economy so far. He is been able to revive the struggling economy to the path of growth, getting all the economic indicators including inflation, the Cedi in a stable condition.
Barely 11 months into government, Dr Forson who was the ranking member on the Finance Committee of Parliament, Minority Leader, is seen as one of the youngest Finance Ministers at age 47
