The Vice President, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has celebrated her birthday with two donations to the Nsawam Maximum Prison in the Eastern Region and the Accra Psychiatric Hospital in the Greater Accra Region.
Born on November 22, 1951 in Cape Coast, in the Central Region, the former first female vice chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and first female vice president, turned 74 this month.
The first presentation, performed on her behalf was led by the Chief of Staff at her Office, Alex Segbefia on Saturday November 22.

Items donated included an undisclosed cash amount, bags of rice and sugar, boxes of oil, sardines, water, and soft drinks.
The team also presented sanitary towels to the inmate at the female department of the prison. They were received by Deputy Director of the Prisons, Commander Patrick Thomas Seidu, and his team, who expressed appreciation for the gesture.

The second donation, was led by another appointee at the Vice President’s Office, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo at the Psychiatric Hospital. Among the items donated were rice, sugar, tinned fish, tomatoes, water, undisclosed cash amount and cooked meal to all the patients.
Dr Peggy Asiedu Ekremet, the Deputy Clinical Coordinator, Victus Kpesese, the Director of Administration of the Mental Health Authority, Mrs Agnes Agudu, the Chief Nursing Officer, and other members of staff received the items on behalf of the patients.

“I want to thank every single person who sent me good wishes and prayers for my birthday. I don’t take your kindness for granted at all. We must continue to thank God for His mercies and also remind others that they matter, even when their circumstances are very difficult”, she said in a post.
