The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim (MP), has sent warm New Year wishes to Ghanaians, urging a renewed dedication to national progress as the country welcomes 2026.
In a New Year message released on January 1, 2026, the Minister recognized the essential role of traditional leaders, religious figures, sector partners, and local communities, calling them crucial allies in Ghana’s development path.
Reflecting on the recently celebrated Christmas season, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim highlighted its significant spiritual meaning, referring to the birth of Jesus Christ as “humanity’s most profound symbol of hope and divine restoration.” He encouraged Ghanaians to carry the values of grace, renewal, and purpose into the new year.
The Minister stated that the message of the Nativity closely aligns with the government’s Reset Agenda, which he described as a commitment to a new beginning for Ghana. He explained that this agenda is based on accountability, fiscal discipline, community empowerment, and acknowledging the roles of traditional and religious institutions in fostering national unity and social progress.
“For us in government, the message of the Nativity is a strong motivator for our Reset Agenda,” he said, adding that just as Christ’s birth marked a new era, the Reset Agenda aims to reposition Ghana for sustainable growth and inclusive governance.

Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to ensuring that the national renewal agenda impacts the grassroots, stressing that development should reach every district and traditional area throughout the country.
He expressed hope that by aligning governance with the principles of peace, humility, and service, Ghana can create a fairer and more prosperous society.
The Minister urged Ghanaians to step into 2026 with confidence and optimism, assuring them that collective efforts will lead to brighter days ahead.
He concluded by wishing the nation a peaceful and productive New Year, and invoked God’s blessings on Ghana.
