First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama has commissioned the renovated and fully equipped Anyima Health Centre in the Kintampo South District of the Bono East Region, to improve access to quality healthcare.
The project, undertaken by the Lordina Foundation, following advocacy by Anyima Queenmother Nana Saa Gyamfuaa II, will serve more than 3,000 residents in Anyima and surrounding communities, with expanded maternal, emergency and outpatient services.
Mrs. Mahama expressed concern about Ghana’s maternal and infant mortality rates, noting that maternal mortality remains nearly 300 deaths per 100,000 live births, while infant mortality stands at about 32 deaths per 1,000 live births.
“Behind these numbers are mothers, daughters, sisters and precious children whose lives could be saved with timely access to quality healthcare facilities and skilled birth attendants.”
She also announced that President John Dramani Mahama will soon launch a Primary Health Care Programme aimed at providing free healthcare services at facilities such as the Anyima Health Centre.
It comes on the heels of several of such gestures in the past in the Bono East, Savannah, Volta Regions and many others.
