Seizes Luxury Vehicles, Jewellery, Weapons, and Documents from Dr. Sledge

Dubbed dodgy and ineffective in handling corruption cases, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is making efforts to salvage its tainted reputation with intensified probes amidst skepticism.
Accusations persist that the OSP has compromised various corruption investigations under the guise of carrying them out, causing public uproar and distrust in its capabilities.
In a recent turn of events, the OSP has conducted extensive searches at the Trassaco residence of Nana Yaw Duodu, aka Dr. Sledge, and the East Legon offices of Goldridge Company Limited.
These searches uncovered a trove of valuable assets allegedly tied to corruption activities, leading to substantial financial losses amounting to US$94 million for the State.
Tasked with investigating suspected corruption and related offences linked to the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) gold trade programme, the OSP’s Asset Recovery and Management Team made significant seizures during the operation. Luxury vehicles, costly jewellery, weapons, and documents pertaining to landed properties were among the items confiscated as part of the probe.
The OSP claims its commitment to unraveling the intricacies of the MIIF gold trade scheme, with ongoing investigations shedding light on the mismanagement that has plagued the initiative.
This latest move signals a belated attempt by the OSP to restore its credibility and address long-standing criticisms of inefficiency and ineffectiveness in handling corruption cases.
Previously, Nana Yaw Duodu, the CEO of Goldridge Refinery Limited, was apprehended by the OSP on September 30, 2025, in connection with the investigation into the gold trade programme. Allegations of widespread corruption and financial improprieties surrounding Goldridge’s contractual obligations under the initiative have led to staggering financial losses for the State.
As the investigations deepen and new evidence emerges, the OSP is under pressure to deliver tangible outcomes and dispel doubts about its effectiveness in combating corruption.
Time will tell whether these latest actions mark a genuine pivot towards accountability or merely a symbolic gesture in response to longstanding criticisms.
