President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Martin Kolbil Yamborigya as the Acting Commissioner of the Domestic Tax Revenue Division (DTRD) of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), effective Monday, 17 November 2025. His appointment follows the retirement of Mr. Edward Apenteng Gyambrah, who served with distinction.
Dr. Yamborigya, a highly respected Tax Administrator and Public Finance Expert, brings more than 20 years of experience in revenue administration to his new role. He is widely regarded for his strong leadership in Domestic Tax Policy, Compliance Management, and Revenue Mobilization—key areas that have shaped the modernization of the GRA.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Yamborigya has held several critical management positions within the Authority. He has served as Audit Team Leader for the Tax Audit Unit, Head of Audit at the Legon Medium Taxpayer Office, and Head of Post Clearance Audit at DTRD. He also led the Special Audits Unit (Audit Factory) and later served as Acting Assistant Commissioner at the OTRD Secretariat.
Most recently, as Assistant Commissioner and Head of Tax Audit at the Large Taxpayer Office (LTO), he played a pivotal role in implementing reforms aimed at improving tax compliance, widening the tax net, and strengthening efficiency across domestic tax operations. His work has earned him broad respect within Ghana’s tax administration landscape.
Dr. Yamborigya’s appointment is expected to inject renewed momentum into national efforts to boost domestic revenue, enhance tax compliance culture, and expand the use of digital systems in tax administration. He is also expected to deepen stakeholder engagement as the GRA continues its transformation drive.
Management and staff of the Ghana Revenue Authority have congratulated Dr. Yamborigya on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to deliver a successful and impactful tenure.
