President John Dramani Mahama has paid a day’s working visit to the National Service Authority (NSA) Papao farm at Haatso in the Greater Accra Region.
He toured the farm with officials of the NS as well as the Minister for Youth Development and other officials yesterday Friday September 12.
The president, who toured the farm while it was raining commended the personnel and volunteers making the farms stand out.
In a speech, the President said “And so I want to thank the National Service Authority, I want to congratulate all you young National Service people and volunteers.
You’ve really done a good job, I am very impressed and I want to congratulate you and they say it is the one that climbs a good tree that is supported. So, I am going to push you with all my strength”.
So that we can stop bringing frozen chickens from outside. We don’t know how those chickens were raised, in many of the countries they use genetically modified chickens. In many of the countries they inject with hormones, we want fresh Ghanaian grown chicken so that our people can live a healthy life.
Additionally, he announced that the first processing plant under the ‘Nkoko Nkitinkiti’ project is currently in the procurement stage, with construction expected to begin soon at sites across the country.
He expressed confidence that within the next three years, Ghana will be able to produce nearly 100% of its chicken need. The National Service farms has been one of the farms government is investing in under it Operation Feed Ghana project.
They are not the only institution joining the chorus. The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), the Ghana Prison Service (GPS), some Senior High Senior and Junior High Schools, churches and so on.
They do not only deal with chicken, they are into pig rearing and many others.
