For BECE Placement At Aburi Girls’; Accuser Runs Away
The Ministry for Education, has announced it is investigating a bribery allegation against Aburi Girls’ Senior High School (SHS) in the Eastern Region, amidst the ongoing Computerized School Placement System (CSPS).
The claim was first made by a lady by name Gertrude Adzo Borklo, on social media to the effect that placement to Aburi Girls which hitherto costs nothing is pegged at GHS15, 000.
Her shocking claim went viral and the attention of the Ministry was caught but before asking for this investigation, the said account has been deactivated.
It is therefore unclear how the investigators are going to get in touch with the claimant but nonetheless a statement from the Minister said “The Ministry views this allegation with the utmost seriousness and has initiated an immediate investigation into the matter. However, attempts to reach the author of the original post have proven unsuccessful, as her account messenger was deactivated shortly after the publication.”
The Thursday September 25 statement. added that since Borklo’s claim, others on the internet have continued on that tangent, to make similar claims.
Signed by the Deputy Minister, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, the statement said the Ministry is not taking the claim lightly and so they are collaborating with a number of security agencies to fish out these individuals to assist in this probe.
“The Ministry has further observed that other individuals, using anonymous or “ghost” accounts, are amplifying similar falsehoods. In response, the Ministry is collaborating closely with National Security, the Cyber Security Authority, and other agencies to track down these people to assist in investigating this matter”.
Dr Apaak reiterated that, the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Computerized School Placement System is entirely free of charge stressing that, there should be absolutely no payment to access the service.
The statement urged the general public to provide any credible information or evidence of persons whether Ministry officials or third parties, who demand money for placements. It assured the Ministry’s commitment to swiftly handle such cases to bring finality to it.
