The Namibia Teaching Service Committee has reached out to Dr. Clement Apaak, the Deputy Minister for Education, at the Ministry of Education in Accra.
The delegation was headed by Ms. Habate Doeses, the Chairperson of the Namibia Teaching and Learning Service Committee. This Committee is responsible for the recruitment, training, and placement of teachers in Namibia.
Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, the Deputy Minister of Education, stated that significant investment in education will lead to long-term national development.
Dr. Apaak made these comments during a visit from a Namibian delegation at his office, emphasizing that education can greatly improve societies.
He shared that he is a living example of the long-term benefits of education, mentioning that the delegation would be surprised by his personal story about how education has positively impacted his life.
“Investing in education is essential for any nation’s growth. Many of us owe our presence here to the influence of education. If we were to share our backgrounds, just like yours, you would be astonished. The reason we are here today and have the opportunity to speak is because of education.
“When we discuss the transformative power of education, it is clear. Thus, investing in education is a wise choice. In the long run, we can expect that putting resources into education will yield significant returns,” he noted.
The Deputy Minister praised the delegation for their interactions with local education stakeholders, encouraging them to share their insights with the ministry so that important lessons can be learned.
“I recognize that your visit has involved extensive discussions with the NTC, the Ghana Education Service, NACCA, teacher unions, and a tour of one of our colleges of education, the Presbyterian College of Education .
“Let me acknowledge the efforts you have put into gathering valuable insights and experiences from our institutions. I encourage you to share your key takeaways and insights from these interactions as we are eager to learn from your observations,” he urged the Namibians.
Dr. Apaak urged cross-border collaboration to enable African countries to harness collective resources to achieve their vision in education.
