NPP Threatens to Remove Nyaho-Tamakloe’s Founding Father Status

By Leo Nelson

A founding figure in the New Patriotic Party, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, faces the risk of losing his status within the party.
The NPP has issued a warning of summoning him before the influential Council of Elders for a crucial verdict on his standing.
General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua has taken a personal pledge to spearhead the motion to address this matter during a forthcoming Council meeting, proposing the potential stripping of his founding member title.
Citing Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe’s role as an elder expected to offer sagacious counsel within the Council, Kodua highlighted the disruptive nature of his recent actions against the party’s best interests.
“As a fundamental pillar of our party, we anticipate his commitment to the National Council of Elders, offering guidance to our members—rather than inciting discord. Such behavior is not emblematic of a founder of a political party. We have various founding members, none of whom exhibit this demeanor. Presently, we require unity and positive dedication,” reiterated Kodua during an interview on Joy News.
The looming threat arises following Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe’s public remarks regarding the recent arrest and detention of the Ashanti Regional chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, known as chairman Wontumi.
The influential NPP elder, while addressing the media amidst a crowd of members rallying at the National Intelligence Bureau, criticized the party’s leadership vacuum post-election, citing irregularities in the transfer of authority to the national chairman according to the party’s constitution.
Expressing concerns over what he perceives as a deliberate plan by the party leadership to destabilize governance, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe urged for vigilance to prevent a potential breakdown in the country’s democratic process.
In a candid interview, he warned of a sinister ‘Plan B’ orchestrated by the NPP to create turmoil and pave the way for military intervention, emphasizing the need for swift action to safeguard the nation’s stability.
With tensions escalating within the NPP ranks, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe’s outspoken criticisms have positioned him at the center of controversy, prompting the party to contemplate the removal of his founding father accolade.
