….CEO Randy Abbey Angry
The CEO of the Ghana Cocoa Board, Dr. Randy Abbey, erupted in anger during a recent visit to the Western North Region over the discovery of unnecessary imports left abandoned and unused.
The materials, including cocopeat, were procured by the previous management, sparking questions of incompetence or deliberate mismanagement.
Dr. Abbey was visibly dismayed when he stumbled upon the unused imports at the Sewfi Boako Cocoa Station, located in the Sewfi Wiaso Municipality. He sharply questioned officials on the necessity of the items, pointing out that they were not requisitioned and were surplus to requirements for the current season.
Expressing his exasperation, Dr. Abbey demanded answers, asking, “What kind of nonsense is this? Why import things we don’t need?” The situation mirrors a recent incident at the Electricity Company (ECG) where imported items were left accumulating demurrages at the Tema Port.
This latest blunder has reignited concerns about mismanagement and overspending in government agencies. Investigations are ongoing to unravel the mystery of these surplus imports, echoing a growing trend of wasteful practices in procurement and logistics.
