The 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has taken a commanding lead in the presidential election held today, Saturday, January 31.
The former vice president has polled 55, 926 votes representing 57.61% of 132 out of the 277 polling stations.
From the results so far, Dr Bawumia appears to be cruising to victory for the second time despite his votes reducing if compared to the 2023 results.
His closers contender, Ken Agyapong follows with 24, 507 votes representing 24. 65% from 132 out of the 277 polling stations. His votes appears to have dwindled.
Bryan Acheampong who was seen as the dark horse of the contest has surprisingly garnered 19, 674 representing 17.71% from 132 out of 277 polling stations.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Abetifi constituency appears to have taken more from Ken than he has done from Dr Bawumia
Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum is trailing at fourth with 1, 221 votes representing 1.10% while Kwabena Agyepong came last with abysmal 202 votes representing 0.18%.
