Diaspora, Sick Delegates Left in the Cold for January Primaries Chaos!
In a bombshell move that’s ripping the New Patriotic Party (NPP) apart from the inside, the party’s top brass has slammed the door on proxy voting for the explosive January 31, 2026 presidential primaries, leaving sick folks, disabled warriors, and abroad hustlers high and dry sparking a fierce backlash that could torpedo the Elephant’s comeback dreams against the NDC juggernaut!
Joe Osei Owusu, the iron-fisted Chairman of the NPP Presidential Elections Committee, dropped the hammer after sifting through a flood of desperate petitions from party die-hards.
No mercy: Every delegate must drag themselves to the polling stations in person, or kiss their vote goodbye.
“We’ve heard the cries, read the pleas from every corner,” Owusu thundered, “but for a clean, drama-free showdown that’s rock-solid and open to all who show up, this ban stays locked tight!”
The uproar hit fever pitch from Yaa Frimpomaa Amponsah, the no-nonsense boss of the NPP’s USA branch, who blasted the decision as a straight-up betrayal of Ghana’s voting laws.
Waving Regulation 25 of CI 127 like a battle flag, she roared that proxies are a sacred right for the bedridden, the wheelchair-bound, students grinding away, and expats pouring dollars back home.
“Our laws aren’t suggestions they shield the vulnerable from getting shut out of democracy!” Amponsah fired off, warning this “convenience over constitution” stunt could disenfranchise thousands of loyalists and hand the NPP a self-inflicted wound.
“You’re trampling the rights of the travelled, the schooled, the fragile all for some phony purity play?” she slammed, vowing it’s a “disservice” that spits on the party’s global family.
With primaries just weeks away to crown the 2026 flagbearer think Bawumia vs. the Agyapong crew this proxy purge amps up the infighting, exposing cracks in the NPP’s armor as they claw back from 2024’s drubbing.
Now, vulnerable voices from hospital beds to New York streets are sidelined unless they miraculously beam in. Is this vote lockdown a fraud-buster or a voter killer? The NPP’s unity train is derailing fast and the primaries could turn into a total meltdown!
