Long time midmorning show host at Accra based Peace FM, Kofi Kum Bilson, has in an interesting move showed his National Democratic Congress (NDC) side in a video.
The video was made in honour of President John Dramani Mahama during his 67th birthday celebration marked last week November 29.
“This is my treasure box. I want to do this souvenir exhibition in hobour of my very good friend His Excellency JDM on his 67th birthday. This is my treasure box containing cherished souvenirs that I have collected over the years and I will address COS, Chief of Staff”, he said before opening the box.
The veteran radio presenter in the video counted several party souvenirs and paraphernalia kept since the days of late former President Jerry Rawlings.
Showcasing them in the video which has shocked many on social media, Bilson unboxed and one after the other, brought the details out.
While he pulled the items out, he explained the circumstance under which he came by them with nostalgic.
The items included NDC colour smock (fugu), campaign t-shirts from 2012 to 2024, umbrella, original CD of the party’s national anthem written and performed by the late Jewel Ackah, branded bottled water given him when late President John Mills died in July 2012.
“Now souvenirs about John Mahama His Excellency, His first presidential election this is the souvenir since 2012 and I have kept it so well. This is what brought him into power. Then in 2016 election the souvenir I kept is this umbrella. I have not even opened it before this is the first time I am opeining it. In 2020 the souvenir I kept is this t-shirt, then in 2024 when God gave him opportunity to come to power again this is the souvenir he used to campaign. Even this t-shirt, it was customized for me so my name is behind it. There was also another souvenir t-shirt for the 2024”
Speaking fondly of the items Bilson said the fugu was given to him by the late Paul Victor Obeng (PV Obeng) during the Rawlings era at the Osu Castle.
“This is when Rawlings used to wear fugu on top of his shirt then I told PV Obeng then he gifted me this. I have not worn it before but let me wear it now to do the presentation,
“So COS my good friend Julius Debrah, this is what I am using to wish President Mahama.”, he said in conclusion.
