The Criminal Investigative Department (CID) of the Police Service, has said it is still going ahead with investigation into claims by an American lady who claims “she was kidnapped by five masked men, whom she alleges were officers of the Ghana Police Service on snap-check duty in Accra, and robbed her of some amount of money.”
According to the police, Arianna Maomi Mackey has resisted initial request to cooperate with the investigative team but they are still going ahead to probe the matter.
A statement from the Department on Tuesday December 9, said they are going to use the approapriate diplomatic channels to get her to cooperate with the investigative team.

“Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to secure her cooperation through approariate diplomatic channels.” It said they take allegations such as Mackey’s seriously and are going to ensure the truth is unraveled.
This comes on the back of the claim by the US citizen on social media that she was kidnapped by five masked men at snap-check duty in Accra.
Despite the weight of the allegation, Mackey according to the Police statement has left Ghana without reporting or ensuring the matter is looked into, aside making the issue public on social media site Snapchat.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that, Mackey was indeed in Ghana and lodged at unnamed hotel with two companions where she made the video.
They checked out of the hotel facility on December 5, 2025 and and checks at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) show that she left the country the same day.
However, all attempts to get her to avail herself for the investigation have proven futile.
The police also said request for her to provide details of her friend who she was with when the incident occurred was also rejected. She claimed the person does not want to be part of any probe.

“Police further requested for the contact details of her friend in Ghana, who she said was with her during the time of the incident. She, however, stated that her friend does not want to be involved in the investigation.
She has subsequently deleted the video in which she made the wild accusation.
“She has since deleted the video on her page and further efforts by the investigators to contact her through WhatsAoo calls abd messages have proved unsuccessful, as she has declined to respond and later blocked the team”, the statement signed bt the Public Relations Officer, Chief Insoector Bridgitte Babanawo said.
