On Thursday, President John Dramani Mahama handed over 40 newly acquired armored police vehicles at a ceremony.
He assured the nation that his government will fully support the security agencies to fight crime, safeguard citizens, and create a favorable environment for development.
He warned that the government will not be lenient, stating that lawbreakers will face consequences.
The vehicles consist of 15 armored pickups, five Cobra-Four, and twenty Cobra-Three special armored cars equipped with advanced electronic systems.
The President mentioned that these are part of the initial set of equipment, which will also include two tow trucks and 10 covert operational vehicles.
Additionally, every police district office will receive a pickup for patrol duties.

He took the opportunity to warn the public about the rising incidents of attacks on law enforcement agencies.
“We will provide you with the right tools so that while you perform your duties, you can also stay safe and return to your families,” he promised.
“Too often, we have lost officers in the line of duty because we send them on missions without the necessary equipment to ensure their safety. That is why from the beginning of my administration, I committed to upgrading and modernizing all our security agencies.”
President Mahama assured the officers and their families that his government will work to eliminate these acts of lawlessness.
He stated that the ceremony is not merely about machinery and equipment, but “about our readiness, responsibility, and assurance that when danger arises, the state will be there to protect us.”

“These vehicles are operational tools, not just symbols. They are meant to enhance police response in high-risk situations and improve officer safety during dangerous operations.
They enhance officer protection when you are engaged in dangerous operations. They reinforce patrols in rugged terrain and high crime zones.”
He continued, “Today’s handing over is a significant fulfilment of the commitment I made. Our security policy is anchored on a simple truth. Peace is not accidental. Peace is built and established through investment, institutional strengthening, professionalism, and vigilance.”
