The Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah has advised the newly formed 2026 World Cup Ministerial Oversight Committee to take charge of travel arrangements and maintain Ghana’s national image.
He made this statement during the inauguration of an 11-member Ministerial Oversight Committee for the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
“We ask you to help with coordinating travel arrangements. We often face issues with visas, and some individuals may try to exploit the system and disappear, which tarnishes the country’s reputation,” Mr. Debrah stated.
He emphasized that the committee must oversee efforts to protect Ghana’s image, even if not all fans can travel to the United States for the event.
“The committee should take the time to meet with the right officials at the American Embassy to ensure that Ghanaians can go and support their team,” he added.
Furthermore, the Chief of Staff instructed the committee to promote Ghana’s investment opportunities and tourism exports effectively.
“This is also an opportunity for us to sell some of our investment potential to the world. So, not necessarily looking at football. What are some of the things we can associate with our presence there? Let people know that our country is also an investment opportunity.
“Promotion of our tourism is one, and I believe that strongly if we sell ourselves, we can make Ghana proud,” he added.
