Ghanaian artiste Tic Tac has criticised Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, for his comments on illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey in Ghana.
During a parliamentary session, Annoh-Dompreh stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government should not be solely blamed for the illegal mining menace, as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) also contributed to the destruction of water bodies during their tenure.
In response, Tic Tac condemned the NPP lawmaker for engaging in a blame game instead of taking responsibility to address the illegal mining problem.
The musician stressed the importance of the government in implementing measures to combat galamsey and protect the water bodies.
“It is not about NDC or NPP, it is about Ghana now. Can’t you see the nation is bleeding? We are tired of the blame game. All we want is to save Ghana from galamsey,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Annoh-Dompreh’s remarks on galamsey have received strong backlash from the public, who felt his comments were inappropriate during a national crisis.
The galamsey issue became a pressing national concern after the Ghana Water Company Limited announced that water shortages were due to the pollution of water bodies caused by illegal mining activities.
