The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has inaugurated the newly constituted Board of Directors of the Ghana International Trade Commission (GITC), urging members to strengthen the Commission’s mandate of promoting fair competition and protecting Ghanaian industries from unfair trade practices.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Accra, on 6th November,2025, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare emphasized the GITC’s critical role in ensuring equity and transparency in Ghana’s international trade regime.
She noted that the Commission serves as a key institution in resolving trade disputes, investigating unfair trade practices, and safeguarding local industries from the adverse effects of global competition.
“The GITC must remain vigilant in protecting our domestic market from anti-competitive and unfair external trade practices,” the Minister stated.

“Your work is essential in creating a fair and predictable trade environment that supports industrial growth and economic transformation.” She stated.
Hon. Ofosu- Adjare called on the six (6) member board to collaborate closely with the Trade Ministry and relevant stakeholders to align their efforts with government’s broader industrialization and export promotion agenda.
She highlighted the importance of building capacity in trade remedy investigations and strengthening Ghana’s compliance with international trade agreements.
The new Board Chaired by Mr. Felix Tawia Yaw Akyea on behalf of the Board expressed his appreciation to the Minister and the President for the Confidence repose in them and pledged to uphold integrity and professionalism in executing the Commission’s mandate.
“We are deeply honoured by this appointment and fully aware of the critical role the GITC plays in Ghana’s trade and industrial development,” the Chairperson said.
“The Board will work diligently to ensure that Ghana’s trade policies and practices remain transparent, competitive, and aligned with international standards. Together, we will strengthen the Commission’s capacity to deliver on its objectives and contribute meaningfully to national economic growth.”

The newly inaugurated board, comprises of, Mr. Felix Tawia Yaw Akyea as Chairperson, Mr. George Kobina Fynn, Deputy Chairperson, Mr. Berima-Agyekum Honneh Esq, Mr. Kin Hussein Ibn Alhasan, Ms. Elizabeth Essie Boodu-Mantey and Ms. Mavis Adjei-Kwaa all member.
The Ghana International Trade Commission (GITC) was established to promote and enforce fair trade practices, conduct trade remedy investigations, and ensure Ghana’s participation in international trade aligns with World Trade Organization (WTO) standards.
