The Deputy Director for Welfare of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. William Atamudzi, has ushered in the New Year with a remarkable act of compassion, extending support to eighty (80) widows and widowers as part of activities marking New Year’s Day 2026.
The gesture, which coincided with his birth month, was undertaken in gratitude to God for His goodness and mercies throughout 2025. Describing the outreach as a personal commitment to giving back, Mr. Atamudzi said the initiative was meant to remind vulnerable members of society that they are remembered, valued, and loved.

Each beneficiary received essential items including cloth, a live chicken, cooking oil, and bags of rice to help ease their living conditions at the start of the year.
Mr. Atamudzi emphasized that kindness and compassion must remain central to leadership, noting that true service is demonstrated through tangible actions that positively impact lives.
“This is about sharing hope and standing with those who may feel forgotten. When we lift others, we strengthen our communities,” he stated.
The event attracted several notable personalities, including the NDC Deputy National Communication Officer, Godwin Ako Gunn; Deputy Director of IT Elections, Jibri Mahdi; and Bishop Edwin Fred Atitso, along with other party comrades and pastors who offered prayers and words of encouragement.
Beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation for the support, describing the gesture as timely and uplifting, and prayed for God’s blessings upon Mr. Atamudzi and his continued service to humanity.
The initiative reflects the NDC’s broader commitment to social responsibility and caring for the vulnerable, particularly widows and widowers who often face economic and emotional hardships.
