Wontumi and Abronye Told: Stay Clear of NPP Top Chair Race!

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been strongly urged to block certain regional bigwigs from throwing their hats into the ring for the position of national chairman come next election.
Calls have been made for concrete measures to be taken to disqualify power brokers Bernard Antwi Boasiako and Kwame Baffoe from the running, as critics argue they’ve failed to prove themselves worthy of a promotion from their current regional posts.
Both Antwi Boasiako, also known as Wontumi, and Baffoe, alias Abronye DC, are being slammed for their lackluster performances in the previous general election, where they fell short in securing crucial seats in the Ashanti and Bono regions, respectively.
Abronye DC, in particular, is under fire for losing all but one parliamentary seat in his region to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Meanwhile, Wontumi is faulted for the surprising showing of the NDC in the Ashanti Region, where the opposition party exceeded its expected share of votes.
These criticisms, spearheaded by former NPP presidential aspirant Ken Agyapong, have ignited internal discord in the party well ahead of the next presidential primaries.
On a recent segment of the show “Ken’s Studio,” loyalists Frank Owusu Addo and Shaibu Lasisi didn’t hold back, condemning Abronye and Wontumi for their failure to deliver desired results and their role in causing rifts within the party.
Their scathing remarks come amidst a backdrop of intense rivalry between Ken’s faction and supporters of the 2024 flagbearer, with both sides engaging in a war of words across various media platforms.
In light of their lackluster track records, Lasisi made it clear that figures like Abronye and Wontumi should be automatically disqualified if they put themselves forward for top positions within the NPP.
With tensions on the rise and battle lines being drawn, it seems the road to the party’s next leadership selection will be a fiery one.
