The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has called on Board Members of agencies under his ministry to approach him with solutions and achievements rather than presenting challenges and complaints.
He clarified that the role of Board members is to devise solutions to the issues faced by their institutions, which is the primary reason for their appointment to these Boards.
This statement was made by Hon. Akandoh on Friday, July 11, 2025, during the inauguration of the six boards for several key health institutions, including the National Blood Service, National Ambulance Service, Ghana Mental Health Authority, Ghana College of Pharmacists, Allied Health Professions Council and Traditional Medicine Practice.
“Do not come to me with complaints and challenges; only present your solutions and successes. This government will not entertain grievances from your sectors,” the Minister emphasized.
“We will not continue with the status quo,” he added.
The Juaboso Member of Parliament further highlighted that these six institutions play a crucial role in all aspects of healthcare, from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and recovery, and they must work diligently to achieve their missions and visions.
He pointed out that the Boards are not merely for oversight but are expected to take a leadership role, assuring that the Ministry of Health will support them with policy guidance, coordination, and system enhancements.
“However, we will also demand results because effective regulation goes beyond paperwork. It is about saving lives, fostering trust, and ensuring health for all,” he remarked.
“I urge you to collaborate across agencies, let data guide your decisions, and most importantly, prioritize the Ghanaian patient—whether they are in urban or rural areas, affluent or less fortunate—at the core of your mission,” Hon. Akandoh advised.
