Face investigations for Fraud, Money Laundering

Kofi Akpaloo, the outspoken leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), found himself in hot water as officials from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) swooped in to apprehend him on allegations of fraud, causing financial loss to the state, dissipation of public funds, falsification of documents, and money laundering.

Akpaloo, who was reportedly discovered hiding in a Waldrop duvet in Kumasi, was taken into custody by EOCO following a tip-off that he was a wanted man.. After several unsuccessful attempts to locate him, officials used sophisticated surveillance methods to track him down in the Ashanti Regional capital.

The firebrand politician has been placed on a Ghc 10 million bail, requiring two sureties for justification.

This is not the first time Akpaloo has been embroiled in controversy. In May 2020, he made headlines over a $2 million ECG Energy contract. Now, his recent arrest further underscores his entanglement in legal troubles.

Akpaloo currently remains in EOCO custody as the investigation unfolds, and the nation awaits the results of the probe into the alleged financial misconduct perpetrated by the the leader of a nano political party, the LPG
