NPP Exec Pad List with Zombies to Crown Bawumia King -Ken Supporters Allege
By Philip Antoh
A storm is brewing inside the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a faction of delegates who have defected from Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to Kennedy Agyapong raise serious allegations of electoral manipulation ahead of the crucial flagbearer selection.
The group claims that entrenched party executives sympathetic to Bawumia are orchestrating a ploy to inflate the delegates register with “ghost names”—including deceased former executives and non-delegates—thereby skewing the vote in favour of the sitting Vice President.
“The party’s recent decision to grant voting rights to former executives and founding members is being exploited by selfish elements to pad the list with ineligible individuals, rigging the election,” one insider said. “This is not just unethical; it risks the legitimacy of the entire process.”
Heavy alarm bells were sounded recalling similar tactics allegedly employed during the last flagbearer race, spurring the defectors to rally robust resistance this time around.
Confirming the gravity of the accusations, Chairman Gawo, a key figure from the Zongo caucus now aligned with Agyapong, attested to ongoing investigations within the party. “We have credible information and insist leadership must act swiftly to stop this,” he warned.
The group’s secretary, Yusif Badawe, purported custodian of detailed intelligence on the scheme, has so far been unreachable for comment.
As internal divisions threaten to mar the NPP’s unity, the alleged plot exposes fault lines that could reshape Ghana’s political landscape amid an increasingly acrimonious succession battle.
