…Demands Speaker’s Iron Fist Now
Ghana’s Parliament plunged into fresh anarchy on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, with wild fist-shaking, mob rushes, and a brazen grab for the sacred Mace, as the Minority exploded over a letter declaring the Kpandai seat vacant per a High Court ruling.
But the Parliamentary Network Africa (PNAfrica) isn’t mincing words they’re slamming this “grave affront” to democracy and roaring for the Speaker to unleash hell on the culprits before the House crumbles into a circus!
In a scorching press release dropped today, PNAfrica ripped into the “deeply disappointing” brawl that trashed Ghana’s global rep, with “Honourable” MPs heckling like street fighters, swarming the well of the House, and lunging for the Mace the ultimate no-no symbolizing Parliament’s power.
“This is contempt on steroids, shredding Order 30 of the Standing Orders and Article 122 of the Constitution!” they thundered, calling it a direct assault on the legislature’s guts.
PNAfrica’s fury? It’s no knee-jerk they’ve been sounding the alarm since 2021, battling a “sustained advocacy war” against MP thuggery. Just weeks back, they blasted nine months of radio silence on the chaotic vetting of Mahama’s first ministerial picks at the Appointments Committee.
Now, with MPs growing “bolder” thanks to zero consequences starting from the Speaker’s election melee in January 2021 they’re convinced the rot has festered unchecked.
“Crack the whip, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin! Your legacy hangs on restoring order don’t let this festering mess define you!” PNAfrica demanded, urging the Speaker to haul in every troublemaker “without fear or favour.”
They see this Mace meddling as the tipping point, fueled by a leadership vacuum that’s turned Parliament into a powder keg.
As Ghana’s democracy teeters amid economic woes and political knife-fights, PNAfrica’s wake-up call couldn’t be louder: Punish the chaos-mongers, or watch the House’s dignity go up in flames. The nation and the world is watching. Will Bagbin step up, or let the circus roll on?
