Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, Member of the Council of State and founder of Sesi-Edem Company Limited, has issued a stern public statement condemning the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for a press release concerning him and his company.
The statement, released Monday March 30, comes in the wake of EOCO’s publication regarding a JG Resources Ltd issue, which the High Court, Adentan, conclusively resolved on 19th March 2026.
In that ruling, the Court held that EOCO acted without mandate and in blatant violation of constitutional principles of fairness, ordering the unfreezing of accounts EOCO had unlawfully frozen during the investigation.
Kwamigah-Atokple said EOCO has chosen to attack the judgment publicly rather than respecting the Court’s authority or pursuing a lawful appeal. He described the Office’s actions as reckless and bordering on contempt of court.
“Since Mr Raymond Archer assumed leadership, EOCO has exhibited a troubling pattern of abuse and unprofessionalism,” the statement reads. “The Office appears to prioritise media sensationalism over lawful enforcement, leveraging damage to the reputations of individuals instead of pursuing legal remedies in court.”
The dispute arises from a commercial agreement for the supply of gold between Sesi-Edem Company Limited and JG Resources Ltd, covering June 2025 to June 2026. EOCO had been notified that at least 58% of the gold had been delivered by Novernber 2025, and the Office itself acknowledged that the contractual deadline had not expired.
EOCO then allegedly launched a fishing expedition, claiming that the transaction was unlicensed. Kwamigah-Atokple said the Court confirmed that Sesi-Edem was fully licensed and authourised, holding approvals from the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), the Minister responsible for Mines, and the Ghana Gold Board. The company was also the first licensed self-financing aggregator under the Ghana Gold Board framework.
Despite the clear ruling, Mr. Archer reportedly declared Kwamigah-Atokple a “wanted person” without serving lawful notice. The statement challenges EOCO to provide evidence of any such request, noting that the Managing Director of Sesi-Edem had attended EOCO on 3rd December 2025, provided a written statement, and been interviewed by the Head of the Organised Crime Unit, with all documents formally submitted and receipts acknowledged.
Kwamigah-Atokple has given EOCO and its Executive Director 12 hours to issue a full public apology and withdraw the contentious release. He warned that failure to comply would prompt lawful action to protect his name, his business, and the integnty of the Court’s authonty.
“Let it be understood that restraint is not weakness. I stand firmly on the side of the law, and I expect every public instituton to do the same,” the statement concluded.
This latest confrontation adds to growing public scrutiny of EOCO under the leadership of Mr Raymond Archer, with critics alleging the Office has increasingly relied on media pressure rather than legal proceedings to pursue its agenda.
