Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, has confirmed that homeless Ghanaian contemporary artiste, Barosky has returned safely to Ghana from Manchester, in the United Kingdom (UK).
Known in private life as Isaac Obeng Mensah, arrived in Ghana yesterday, September 7. The repatriation exercise fully sponsored by the Ministry, forms part of the Ministry’s consular mandate.
According to the Minister, arrangements have been made to provide psychological and financial support for his reintegration.
“I can confirm that we have repatriated Barosky and he is safely back with us in Ghana. As part of our consular mandate, the Foreign Ministry fully sponsored his repatriation to Ghana last night. We are also providing psychosocial support and a reintegration financial assistance”, he posted on his socials.
He commended all those who worked to bring the deplorable situation of Barosky to the attention of the government. He singled out the contribution of radio presenter, Nana Romeo,
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the North Tongu constituency also applauded the support by the High Commission led by Sabah Zita Benson.
“We are most grateful to our fellow citizens, particularly Nana Romeo, for bringing Barosky’s heart-wrenching plight in Manchester to our attention. I commend our High Commission in the UK for their impressive coordination. We strive to leave no Ghanaian behind” the minister added.
The case of Barosky came to the limelight about a month ago. He had travelled to the UK for greener pastures but it is unclear what led to his homelessness. He was found in an abandoned structure where he expressed the desire to return to Ghana.
His predicament was presented to the attention of the High Commission following which Mrs. Benson and her team visited him and assured him of readiness to come to Ghana.
