The Member of Parliament (MP) for Juaboso and Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has urged members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to remain united following the party’s nationwide constituency elections held over the weekend.
Akandoh called on aspirants, delegates and party members to prioritise peace, mutual respect and the collective interests of the party as it begins a new phase of constituency-level leadership.
In a message ahead of the elections, the Health Minister expressed appreciation to the party’s grassroots supporters for their dedication and contributions, describing them as a vital part of the NDC’s strength.
“The strength of the NDC has always been its people—the men and women who give their time, energy and resources, often quietly and without recognition. To our grassroots, I say a heartfelt thank you,” he stated.
He also commended all aspirants who offered themselves for leadership positions and encouraged delegates to exercise their voting responsibilities with care and in the best interests of the party.
Akandoh stressed the need for party members to respect electoral rules, conduct themselves peacefully and treat one another with dignity throughout the internal electoral process.
He further urged successful candidates to approach their victories with humility and make efforts to bring all members on board, regardless of their preferred candidates.
“Whatever the outcome, every member has a place and a contribution to make,” he noted.
According to the minister, unity within the party remains essential to its collective commitment to supporting President John Dramani Mahama and improving the lives of Ghanaians.
He urged party members to ensure that the elections strengthen relationships within their respective constituencies rather than create divisions.
“When the ballots have been counted, let us leave every constituency more united than we found it,” he said.
The NDC held its nationwide constituency elections over the weekend, with several new officers elected to leadership positions while some incumbent executives retained their positions for another four-year term.
Akandoh concluded by wishing the party a peaceful and successful electoral exercise, emphasising the importance of solidarity as members work towards their shared political objectives.
