The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has urged aspirants in the party’s constituency executive elections to accept the outcome of the polls and work together to strengthen party unity.
Speaking at the Ketu North Constituency Delegates Conference at Weta in the Volta Region on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Asiedu Nketiah said he had deliberately avoided participating in constituency election activities across the country to prevent any perception of bias towards particular candidates.
He explained that, as National Chairman, he had a responsibility to remain neutral so he could effectively reconcile aggrieved members and unite the party after the elections, irrespective of the winners.
“Everybody in the NDC is my friend and family member. If I select some of you and call you my friends, it means the others are my enemies, but I believe all of you are my friends,” he said.
Asiedu Nketiah urged unsuccessful aspirants not to interpret their defeat as a rejection by the party, emphasising that only one person could occupy a particular executive position at any given time.
He encouraged those who lost to remain committed to the NDC, noting that there would be other opportunities for them to contribute to the party and serve in different capacities in the future.
The NDC chairman also called on delegates to support the emergence of suitable candidates and urged all aspirants to accept the election results in good faith.
“What matters is not who wins, but how that person wins and how we are able to put the party together after the election,” he stated.
He expressed confidence that the party could emerge stronger from the constituency elections if members put aside their differences and worked together after the results were declared.
Asiedu Nketiah’s remarks underscore the importance of reconciliation and collective responsibility as the NDC seeks to maintain unity among its members following the nationwide internal elections.
