Non-Governmental Organization, Adanu, has commissioned a newly constructed three-unit classroom block for the Mafi Seva D/A Basic School.
The project, undertaken in collaboration with local stakeholders and donors, addresses longstanding infrastructure challenges that have forced pupils to study in overcrowded and, in some cases, makeshift learning spaces.
The new facility now provides a safe, weather-resistant, and child-friendly environment that can accommodate about 100 pupils, significantly enhancing teaching and learning conditions.
The intervention forms part of Adanu’s broader development efforts in Mafi Seva.

Previous projects include establishing a library equipped with computers to promote literacy and digital learning, constructing a three-unit urinal facility as part of its WASH initiative, and installing a rainwater harvesting system that supplies clean water to both the school and the wider community.
These initiatives reflect a comprehensive approach to improving education, health, and overall well-being.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Adanu Project Coordinator Jerry John Kotoka, on behalf of the organization’s Executive Director, expressed appreciation to key supporters, including Shelly Morse, Sharon Andrews & Family, The Mosaic Company, Friends of Adanu, the Mafi Seva community, and the Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, Alexander Hottordze.
He reaffirmed Adanu’s commitment to advancing rural education infrastructure and encouraged both students and teachers to make effective use of the new facility.
The Member of Parliament for the area, Alexander Hottordze, commended Adanu for its sustained contributions to education in the Volta Region. He reiterated his commitment to improving educational outcomes in the district and announced plans to introduce a competitive examination initiative aimed at motivating students to excel academically
